A New Beginning: The “Let There Be Light” Gala Shines Bright for Survivors
A Night to Remember: On October 2, 2025, light filled the room at The Astro Theater in La Vista as hundreds gathered for Innocence Freed’s “A New Beginning – Let There Be Light” Gala — and what a night it was! The evening was nothing short of extraordinary, filled with hope, unity, and purpose as our community came together to support survivors of human trafficking and exploitation.
From the moment guests stepped into the beautifully lit venue, a tangible sense of excitement and compassion filled the air. The energy was powerful — a reflection of hearts joined together for one mission: to restore freedom, dignity, and healing.
A Celebration of Light and Hope
The evening began with words that stirred the soul. Our founder and CEO, Julie Shrader, shared her personal journey — a story of redemption, perseverance, and faith — reminding us that even when darkness tries to silence the truth, God’s light cannot be extinguished.
A heartfelt video message from Senator Pete Ricketts encouraged continued action against human trafficking in Nebraska. Then came an unforgettable keynote by Kelly Dore, survivor leader and founder of the National Human Trafficking Survivor Coalition. Her courage, honesty, and compassion inspired every person in the room to see the strength and resilience of survivors in a new way.
Music, Memories, and Miracles
The night was also filled with incredible performances by Remedy Drive, whose music and message for freedom have become an anthem of hope for many survivors. Their generosity — providing the video wall, powerful songs, and unwavering support — left a lasting impact on every heart in attendance.
Guests enjoyed a wonderful meal, a dynamic silent auction, and countless moments of connection. There were tears, laughter, and the deep awareness that this event was far more than a fundraiser — it was a movement of restoration and faith.
The Impact
Because of the generosity of our sponsors, donors, and attendees, Innocence Freed raised vital funds to continue our aftercare programs for survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation. These funds directly support safe housing, counseling, equine-assisted learning, and trauma-informed recovery programs that help survivors rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
Every dollar raised is a seed of restoration — a step toward opening the first women’s faith-based home for trafficking survivors in Nebraska and then the girls’ home.
The Light Continues — How You Can Still Give
Even though the gala has ended, the mission continues every single day. If you couldn’t attend, or if your heart is still stirred to give, there’s still time to make a difference.
You can donate today at www.innocencefreed.org/donate
Your gift helps provide therapy, life-skills classes, court advocacy, essential needs, and a place of healing for survivors — women and girls who deserve to live free from fear and full of hope.
No amount is too small. Every act of generosity helps bring light to someone still fighting their way out of the darkness.
